My new shoes came a few weeks ago! I'm so in love.

I've been seeing a lot of 1920s fashions recently, particularly in regards to hats and shoes, such as here in the magazine Nylon,

I couldn't stop looking at this section of the magazine, as the 1920s are definitely one of my favourite fashion eras. So when I saw those shoes in the shop, I just about died. I had to order them online, since they didn't have my size in stock, but they arrived at my house only a day or two later!

I will admit though, they aren't the comfiest shoes ever. I wore them to a wedding and my feet were just aching; they feel a little heavier than other heels I own. Even when sitting, I had a strong urge to take them off. They're much too lovely to really complain about though!

The neutral shade of them is perfect too, as it means I can wear them with just about anything and get my money's worth out of them.

I hope you are all well!

I know I say this ALL THE TIME, but I never post on here anymore! I need to get my act together for those of you that actually read my posts.

Quite a bit has happened since my last post. I turned nineteen (June 4th) and I got a job! I actually got the job on my birthday, which was a nice birthday present, in a way, haha. I work at a fabric shop. Now that means I'll have MONEY. So I spent some my first wage today and bought this outfit (above) today! Its all from Forever 21. Also, ignore the mess in the background; I originally took this photo just to show my friend, but now its too dark to take a better, mess-free one.

I know I also say this a lot too, but I will try and take better pictures of my clothes. I've been using my webcam all this time, but I'd like to start taking good quality photos. That skirt I'm wearing is actually a dusty rose shade, not a rusty sort of red/orange, but I don't think you can tell :( so yes, I will need to start taking better photos.

I also bought some shoes today. I didn't take any personal photos, so here are the website ones:

The one above is my favourite! I just love the little strap across the front; they're like a 1920s sort of style, so of course I snatched them up. I had to order them online though, so I don't physically own these as of right now. I saw them in the shop last week, when I didn't have the money for them, and they were gone when I came back today. So I looked online and ordered them there!

And I got this one for a wedding. I was initially looking for the first shoe, with the strap, but that was gone. So I settled for these, which are just as cute! I'm loving the neutral tones. I could wear these shoes (both pairs) with anything, so I definitely don't regret buying two pairs of shoes! I know I'll wear them again and again.

I'm expecting a dress in the post any time soon as well, so I'll be sure to post pictures of that!

I hope you're all well and I hope I'll keep updating this blog!

I haven't posted anything in such a long time!

I just got my hair cut, but I think its too short :( the longest part of my hair is really thinned out, so its barely noticeable compared to the thickness of the rest of my hair; its really thick and full at the top, all choppy and layered, but there isn't much left of my longest length of hair. I do like the style otherwise though, and my hair feels ten times lighter, but I just wish I had more long hair underneath! :(  Its lucky my hair grows fast.

Have a lovely week! <3

I got a bow for my hair :')

I actually don't have much else to say, ahah. I wish I had an interesting blog, so if anybody has some suggestions in regards to what I should post, please let me know (:

I have one more month of school left! I'm actually rather excited to move out, since I'm fed up with living in residence; its always so noisy and my only eating options are pizza and other fast-food. I've put on quite a bit of weight because of it, which isn't very bad because now my boobs are bigger! But still, I can't survive on fast food for much longer.

I'm really not very good at updating consistently, so I apologize! I just wanted to make a little post for my dog, who died a few weeks ago :(

I miss her so much, but she was suffering from cancer and we finally had to put her to sleep. I think it was the kindest thing to do. So, this is Jessie:

I love the ones of her in the snow - those were taken in England. She loved going for walks in the woods and chasing little squirrels around :') I'm sure she'll be chasing squirrels wherever she is now. I love you Jessica, rest in peace xoxox

I just noticed how long my hair is getting! I'm so proud, aha. It still isn't as long as I'd like though; I want at least a few more inches and then I might be satisfied :')

Also, I found these horrendous photos of me from when I was younger. I thought I'd share them because they're quite funny:

I saved the best for last. I was just too sexy for my own good:

Yep, so that is what I looked like!

I wore this outfit yesterday and got a lot of compliments, so I thought I'd post it on here! :) Once again, I'm sorry about the quality of the camera. I have an excuse every time for this: my proper camera's battery is nearly dead and I can't find the wire to re-charge it, so I had to use my webcam. And in any case, I can never find a good spot to place my camera to put it on self-timer. I'm so pathetic, aha.

I had to turn my laptop on its side to get that last picture, hahah. Also, the skirt is supposed to be like a caramel colour.

And I wore these shoes with it:

My friend actually gave me these! She's going back to Australia and couldn't fit them in her suitcase, so she gave them to me. I just love them and they look much better than my old ankle boots; it sounds really silly, but my old boots made my legs look fat and stumpy, at least in my opinion, so I didn't like to wear them very often. These ones are much more flattering.

I only ever seem to find time for this blog when I'm in residence at university. I get far too distracted at home with a sister and two brothers :')  But as I'm now back at uni, I've taken some pictures of my favourite presents. I also wanted to include the panda slippers I got from my brother, but I couldn't get a decent picture :(

Also, to my German and Austrian followers, could any of you give me some German singer or band suggestions? The only German-speaking singer I have on my playlist is LaFee, but the rest are all English-speaking bands/singers. I'd like to hear more German singers, as I find that it helps with learning the language. If you have any suggestions, please let me know :) And please don't say Tokio Hotel, hahah.

I hope you all have a lovely day! x

Monday, 26 December 2011

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas! I will probably post more next week when I'm back at university. There's been too much going on at home for the past month, so please excuse my lack of posting D:

Merry Christmas! x

The concert was sooo good! I got quite close, but it's difficult to take decent photos when everybody is jumping around. These are some of the best ones :)

He was singing 'Seaside' in this one above.

Unfortunately, however, they started really late (like, two and a half hours late according to my brother. But he might be exaggerating. It was a long time though). Nothing happened for half an hour, then the warm-up band played for a while, and then there was nothing for a good 20 minutes. I forgot how annoyed I was though once they came on stage, haha. But it meant I had to leave early in order to catch the last bus :(

Tuesday, 15 November 2011

I've straightened my hair :) It won't go as wavy/curly as it used to; the front goes all wavy, but the back is mostly straight and flat, so I figured I would just straighten all of it until a better hair day comes along :') My hair seems to change depending on my mood.

And I really can't wait to see this gorgeous young man next week:

I'm still unable to believe that I'm actually going to see The Kooks! They were always that one band I loved, but never thought I'd actually get to see. I went to a lot of concerts when I was younger, but they were all emo bands I've mostly outgrown. This will be the first non-emo band I've seen, hahah.

I'm actually getting quite impatient for it to snow, even though I don't like cold weather. It snows heavily in Canada - not like in England where the first snowfall melts an hour later. I wish it would do that here. I want it to snow, but then go away again and just rain :P

My dad sent me this lovely dress last week:

It's from a shop in the UK called Republic. I'm going to wear it more around Christmas/New Year time for parties and whatnot. I think it's so pretty! It's navy blue, if you can't see it properly (I just can't take decent photos on my good camera, so I have to use my webcam).

I also did a little room decorating:

I haven't been feeling very happy for the past few weeks, so I started going through some magazines for pictures to stick on my board. Somehow, it's made me feel a little better. It makes my room feel a little cheerier and girlier. Also, I'm going to see The Kooks in concert next Wednesday! I'm going with my brother and his girlfriend, even though he doesn't particularly want to come, hahah. They're my absolute favourite band, so I very passionately forced him into buying a ticket so he could go with me :') I really can't wait.

I received a blog award from Georgie! Dankeschön :)

According to the rules on Georgie's blog, I think I'm supposed to write seven facts/things about myself and then award other bloggers.

Okay, so, seven facts about myself:

1. I'm from the UK but I live in Canada. I've been here for about seven years, but I still have a very strong English accent :s

2. I'm not always conscious of this, but apparently people find me very 'spacey' and I remind them of Cassie from Skins, aha. A few people said I even look like her, but I genuinely don't see the resemblance. I don't have blonde hair, for a start.

3. I'm in love with fashions of the 1950s and 60s - I like anything vintage. I get excited if I see "retro" Coke in the glass bottles, haha. I also love everything about the 80s: the music, films, fashion, t.v shows, etc. I think if I absolutely had to choose which decade I want to live in, I would choose the 80s.

4. I like to write. I'm an English major at university, although I don't really think I'm likely to become a published writer, haha. I'm thinking about revising a story I wrote two years ago and submitting it for publication. You just never know :')

5. Aside from writing, I like to sew. I was initially going to study fashion at university, but in the end I decided English would offer something more promising - I might become a teacher. But in my spare time, I like to make skirts and dresses. I recently made a little black dress inspired by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffanys

6. I went through a major emo/goth/scene phase when I was younger. Fortunately, I don't have any photos of that tragic time :')

7.  I want to travel a lot. I really want to go to Germany and Austria and Switzerland, and I'd love to visit the Netherlands. I also want to visit every state in America. My brother has done that - I have a souvenir teddy or t-shirt from every state. So far I've only been to New York and Florida.

Now for the awards:

Georgie - She has a great blog. Even though I don't understand much German, I can still look at it and get something out of it. There are a lot of cooking recipes and some fashion posts :)

Elisabeth - One of my other favourite blogs; I've been following her for a while. She's extremely sweet and really helpful when it comes to my German hausaufgaben :') Her blog is really lovely, with lots of photos and meaningful posts, and she has an amazing sense of style.

Shirin - The only person I could actually consider a best/close friend, so of course she gets an award :) Her posts are quite funny, aha.

Katherine - This girl posts stunning photos!

Also, if anybody has Tumblr, you can follow me here :)

When I'm supposed to be doing homework, I start taking photos. Not even particularly good ones, haha. I've never considered myself photogenic. You can probably tell why.

Also, I've noticed that I have a few German-speaking followers, so I'm going to make the effort...

Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch, aber meine grammatik und mein wortschatz sind nicht gut.

I don't know how to say the rest, but basically I want to practice my German, haha. If I got that sentence above correct, I'm proud, because I wrote that without help from Google translate :') But ja, feel free to comment in German and I'll try my best to reply. I'm still only learning, so es tut mir leid :P

I can't sleep, so here's a Nadia Esra inspired photo I took on my webcam, haha. You should check out her blog if you haven't already; she's an amazing photographer and is absolutely gorgeous:  http://nadiaesra.blogspot.com/

My clothes from New Look arrived! I ordered these from newlook.co.uk last week and they just arrived a few days ago. I'm so happy :) The first photo is just a floral top and the second is a paperbag skirt (its kind of ruched at the waist). I've also just ordered a book called 'Charlotte Sometimes' by Penelope Farmer. If anybody knows the song 'Charlotte Sometimes' by The Cure, that's what caught my interest in the book. I couldn't sleep last night and was curious as to the song's meaning, and apparently its based on that book! I looked at an excerpt when I ordered the book, and you can definitely tell where the lyrics of the song came from. From what I read, it sounds really interesting.
